What you will be doing
As a Principal Engineer Network, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure to meet the organization's current and future business needs. You will be a part of a team of talented professionals, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the strategic direction of our network architecture.
The position will be based out of our Pleasanton, CA office.
Main responsibilities
Network Design and Architecture:
- Develop and implement scalable, reliable, and high-performance network solutions.
- Design and optimize network architecture to meet business requirements and industry best practices.
Technical Leadership:
- Lead technical direction and mentor a team of network engineers, providing guidance and expertise.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment to encourage professional growth.
Product Management:
- Manage and execute network-related projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate with other departments to understand their network requirements and integrate solutions accordingly as part of (x) Architecture Review Board processes.
Network Security:
- Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect the organization's network infrastructure.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to proactively address security threats.
Troubleshooting and Support:
- Provide expert-level support for complex network issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues promptly.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to minimize network downtime.
Vendor Management:
- Collaborate with vendors to evaluate and select hardware, software, and services that align with the organization's goals.
- Work with Vendor Management Team to negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships to ensure optimal service levels.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
- Generate regular reports on network performance, capacity, and security.
- Create the governing principles around network design across the organization.
- Design, test, implement, and support network infrastructure. Provide consultation and direct technical support in life cycle planning, problem management, integration, and network configuration..
What we are searching for
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in network engineering roles, with a focus on multi-cloud network designs and integration with campon-prem locations.
- 8+ years of experience with:
- Network operating systems, including Juniper, Cisco IOS and NxOS.
- LAN/WAN architecture and implementation for large enterprise networks (10,000 plus devices).
- Creating and delivering detailed technical presentations of network solutions to Senior/Executive level Management.
- Layer 2 and Layer 3 advanced protocols.
- Palo Alto/Fortinet Firewall Design, Engineering and L4 troubleshooting.
- BGP, OSPF, VSS, VPC, VNET protocols.
- SD-WAN Design and implementation.
- Proven experience in leading technology decisions working with a team of network professionals.
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and security technologies.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Industry certifications such as CCIE, CISSP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
** The salary range is $200,640 to $272,580 Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. Benefits may include, medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay/Flexible Time Off, paid holidays (8-9 days annually) bereavement pay and retirement benefits (such as 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position are also eligible for a quarterly bonus. **
