East Side shooting
Spatters of blood and partial footprints were baked into the hot concrete on South Street and sections of yellow crime scene tape hung between two buildings at the Wragg Borough Homes public housing complex the morning after a late-night shooting injured three people.
Officers with the Charleston Police Department were dispatched to America and South streets around 10:40 p.m. on July 13, according to a statement from spokesperson Sgt. Chris Stinson.
One person suffered a graze wound and declined medical assistance, while the other two victims went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Stinson said. Police did not release the identities of the people who were injured.
The suspects fled the scene, and no arrests have been made as of July 14.
One nearby resident, Brandon Green, said he returned home just after the shooting happened.
“It was chaos,” Green said.
Ladson homicide
One person was arrested after an early morning July 14 homicide on Von Ohsen Road in Ladson.
Daniel Bell, 38, was charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and first degree burglary on July 14, the same day he allegedly killed a person with a knife. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

No other details were immediately available. The two-lane road where the incident occurred was clear on July 14 with no remaining signs of a crime scene.
This is the fifth homicide the sheriff’s office has investigated so far this year, according to records maintained by The Post and Courier.
Family dispute
A midday July 14 family dispute turned deadly at The Passage apartment complex in Summerville.
The Goose Creek Police Department responded to reports of gunshots on Underwood Lane just after 11:30 a.m., Chief LJ Roscoe told reporters at the scene. One woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and three other family members — including the suspected shooter — were transported to an area hospital, Roscoe said.
She could not immediately give further information about the status of the injured people.
The Berkeley County coroner said 19-year-old Isis Lorena Johnson died as a result of the shooting.
Other family members who witnessed the altercation helped police identify the suspected shooter, who is in custody, Roscoe said. The suspect’s identity had not been released at the time of publication.
This was an isolated incident that posed no threat to the greater public, Roscoe said.
Several police cars and yellow crime scene tape still blocked off parts of the apartment complex during the afternoon of July 14. Clothing and other evidence was visibly strewn across the grass.
While police officers have responded to The Passage apartments to reports of attempted car break-ins, there is typically “not a lot of crime” at that complex, Roscoe said.
One resident seconded Roscoe’s assessment. Barbara Estevez, who has lived at The Passage apartments for a year, said the shooting is out of character for the complex.
“There are never any incidents like this,” Estevez said. “I’ve never seen this before.”
